Shop Small Businesses This Holiday Season.

It’s no surprise that businesses are struggling right now due to the pandemic. And small businesses are taking a hit more than any other. I’ve been making more of an effort over the years to support small businesses whenever possible. And let me tell you, it’s rewarding. I have found amazing products, made friends along the way, and felt good about supporting someone’s dreams. I’ve come across some great small businesses and put together this list to hopefully inspire some of you to shop small whenever possible.

I’ve been buying products from Diana for over two years now and I’m so happy I found her business. Her soaps and lotions have literally saved my skin. I no longer purchase soaps, lotions or candles from stores and I’m never going back. She was inspired by skin and health issues both her and her family had. She began making her own products and they found relief. So, she decided to start a business selling her products. Check out her reviews and you’ll see why she has so many loyal customers. My go-to products: Brighten Me Up Bar which helped eliminate scars I had and helped me achieve a more even skin-tone. Beware, this sells out fast! My other favorite is the Soothing Oats bar which helped with my dry skin. I also love the Oatmeal Face Scrub and Soothe Up lotion.

Spi-RITUAL: Website, Instagram

This Black-owned skin-care line is as unique as it’s owner. Alece and I have been IG friends for a while now. Alece is a green Witch, herbalism student, psychotherapist, wife and mother of three. All aspects of Alece’s personality, interests and education come in to play when creating her products. Spi-RITUAL is right where science, nature and spirituality meet. She uses herbs I’ve never heard of but wish I knew about sooner and even has items perfect for a full moon ritual. Spi-RITUAL is all about making self-care a ritual instead of something you save for special occasions. Some of my favs: Bubble bars, Botanical Whipped Shea Butter, Triple Butter Stick and The Detox Scrub.

Elderberry is known for its amazing health benefits and this small business makes “immune boosters” like elderberry feel luxurious, sleek, and sexy. Yup, you heard me. E L D E R sells oh-so-good red velvet cocoas mix, peppermint cough syrup in a flask, hot cocoa with elderberry and so much more. If you want the benefits of various immunity boosting foods, this is a great way to get what you need in a delicious and unique way. Give the gift of an immunity boost to yourself or your loved ones this holiday season.

I first came across Syfrin Handmade Designs through a friend on IG. If you’re looking for handmade, unique home decor or statement pieces, look no further. My favorite items are the pillows that are shaped like bows in high-fashion designs/materials. If you love Home Goods, this will be your go-to stop for unique items from jewelry, art, and furniture. I first spotted Chique Accessories’ bags! I’m a New Yorker, so the “NY State of Mind” bag immediately caught my eye. Chique Accessories can help you check gifts off of your list because they offer affordable accessories and bags. Scroll through their IG or their website to browse this New York based company’s latest releases.

The 13th Chapter Shop: Website/Instagram

Okay, so here’s a shameless plug: I recently opened an Etsy shop. I create products that are an extension of my personality and the things I’m into. You can find T-shirts, sweatshirts, bags, jewelry and resin projects inspired by New York, astrology, spirituality, horror and my endless supply of sarcasm. You can also book a Tarot reading.

Don’t forget to support self-published authors!

Good Morning Mr. Penguin By Bindhya Ramsawmy: Website/Instagram

Bindhya (Bindi) and I connected on IG a little while back. I reached out to her because I was interested in the whole process of self-publishing. She immediately got back to me and shared whatever information and tips she could. And we’ve been following each other ever since. Her obsession with penguins lead to her children’s book series. These books would be perfect additions to any gift or as stocking stuffers. Who doesn’t need more books at bedtime?

Forget Me Nots By Tiffany Manbodh: Website/Instagram

Have a poet or poetry lover on your list? Tiffany Manbodh, who has been featured on our site before, released a poetry book divided into three chapters: The Great Fall, Healing and Restoration, and Thriving. Though the subject matter is intense, it takes you on a journey to find inner strength.

I love thrillers and mysteries. I can’t get enough of them. Have someone on your list who is the same? Nenny May, who we recently featured, released a psychological thriller that’ll keep you guessing until the end. Click the links above to purchase her latest release.
