If you’ve clicked on this post, you just might be into astrology and your heart probably sank just a little reading this title because you’re thinking what in the world is happening in astrology now that’s going to completely ruin my life?! I get it, it can all sound like a lot of doom and gloom — hello Mercury Retrograde! First, relax. Now, take a deep breath. It’s nothing like those pesky retrogrades that completely disregard our plans and completely disrupt our lives.
In July, the nodes of destiny will shift. And before I explain all of that, let me briefly explain what in the world these nodes are. They are points in the sky where the moon and the sun cross paths. And these points shift about every year and a half. There’s a north node and a south node. Are you still with me?
We all have a personal north and south node on our birth charts, and usually share it with people who were born around the same time as we were (within 18 months). But this shift isn’t about your birth chart position.
Where are the nodes right now? And, what does it mean?
Right now, the north node is in Taurus and the south node is in Scorpio and it has been in this position since January 2022. The north represents where we’re heading, or the energy/goal we’re striving towards and the south represents what we learned and what we are leaving behind or letting go.
So, as of January 2022, many of you may have noticed that you were feeling pulled to work smarter, not harder. Over the last few months, you were probably feeling a need to pursue your passion, or at least contemplating it. You may have been prioritizing self-care, rest, and even spoiling yourself. All of us as a whole were shifting ever so slightly and tapping into that Taurus energy. But with that being said, Taurus’ are very practical, especially when it comes to money and they love stability and structure. So, many of you may have been thinking about saving money or ways to have more stability in your life or schedule. Perhaps even multiple streams of income.
Whether it worked out, is completely unique to all of us. But if you look at the changes that were made in most work environments during this timeframe, you’ll definitely see some Taurus-like qualities with people working less traditional hours or in non-traditional work environments. And since the north node is in Scorpio, a sign known to be all about change and rebirth, we have been encouraged during this time to appreciate our growth and the many ways we reinvented ourselves. And, perhaps to call ourselves out when we go to extremes with power, revenge, and sex.
The shifting nodes.
But let’s get into the shifting nodes. On July 17th, the nodes will shift from Taurus/Scorpio to Aries/Libra. And a new cycle will begin. And, it couldn’t be more different. With this combo we can expect to feel a need to be more independent and self-reliant like most Aries crave. You’ll want to go after you goals, dreams, or finish a project you’ve left incomplete for far too long. And, you’ll want all if this so badly that you might let relationships take a backseat.
With Libra in the south node, you’re going to realize that you cannot let relationships or partnerships define you. This can mean walking away from toxic connections and ending relationships that you’ve outgrown. Or, it can mean a shift will occur in your close relationships that you’ll have to find a way to balance or work through.
My advice? Focus on what you really want. Is is a new job? A raise? To purchase a home? To travel the world? Whatever it is, it’s attainable because the energy will be perfect for this kind of thinking and for taking action. You will need to stay motivated and be strategic especially if you want to preserve important relationships while you chase after your dreams or achieve your goals. You’ll have to find the middle ground between selfishness and consideration for others.
